Key Outcome Grow customer base Expand addressable market

The Challenge

Restaurants were running events and prepaid experiences outside of Toast Tables, creating fragmented workflows and limiting Toast's ability to support higher-value bookings.

  • Rigid scheduling with fixed start times
  • Capacity constrained by table inventory
  • Poor support for non-traditional booking flows

The Solution

Expand Tables beyond reservations by introducing a flexible ticketing model that unified events, experiences, and prepaid dining into a single system, integrating inventory, pricing, and payments directly into Table's ecosystem.

Designing across the ecosystem

Ticketed events required more than a single flow. I designed across three connected surfaces, each supporting a different part of the experience.

Set up and configurations UI

Set up & configurations

The foundation for how ticketed events are defined. Restaurant operators need to translate real-world experiences into a structured system - balancing schedules, capacity, pricing, and ticket types, while ensuring everything works seamlessly downstream for both staff and guests.

Event operations UI on tablet

Event operations

Designed for fast-paced, real-time environments where staff are managing live service. The experience needs to prioritize speed, clarity, and reliability - supporting check-ins, ticket validation, and guest flow without slowing down operations.

Discovery and booking flow

Discovery & booking

The entry point for diners to explore and purchase ticketed experiences. Unlike reservations, these flows require clear communication of pricing, expectations, and commitment, while still feeling fast and intuitive for high-intent users.
